UPDATE 06-13-08 Lucy came into our rescue with only days to spare back in April. Upon arrival we noticed she had a few masses on her mammaries. Lucy is another overbred dog that developed cancer due to not being spayed.
In foster care Lucy gained weight and we were finally able to have the necessary mastectomy done to help save her life. She came through surgery just fine- but didn't eat very well for a few weeks. Then she had a major episode on June 7th that may have been related to her surgery or perhaps even a stroke. She needed to be rushed to the doggie ER and has been on IV fluids and constant care to figure out what is wrong. While she is not out of the woods, she will be going to a new foster home to be force fed (she still has not much of an appetite) but she is so weak after 5 days of not eating a thing- it will take her a while to get back on her feet.
Lucy is a sweet loving tail-wagging girl and she deserves every chance at happiness in her golden years. We are praying that she will recover.
Her medical bills have gone over $1500 so any donation to help her will off set the regular donations we bring in to support the rest of the medical bills in our program.
